I have had the pleasure to work with a few very talented professionals in my little career and i keep coming back to michele’s work for inspiration and a pleasurable moment. I love her style and the way she uses elements from “mother nature” such as those sea shells that ornate the table.

Michele is in Paris for a destination wedding in March with her A Team. Looking forward to seeing her soon again.

Ladurée as a wonderful thank you gift

Ladurée’s great story started in 1862. Jeanne Souchard, Ernest Ladurée’s wife, had the idea of mixing styles: the Parisian café and the French pastry. She gave birth to one of the first tea shops in Paris. In 1993, Ladurée was taken over and became one of the Parisian delicacy hotspots and a real institution with its famous macaroon as emblem.

Raymond Massaro has history in his sole. Ever since his grandfather opened this Parisian shoe-making business in 1894, the modest workshop has been turning out footwear for a long list of illustrious clients from fashion kingpins to royalty and movie stars—Kennedy clan members, Marlene Dietrich and Elizabeth Taylor to name just a few. The family has also been a faithful friend of the couture style set, often collaborating with iconic fashion houses. Though Raymond still oversees the business, he recently sold the company to Chanel. These days, you can visit the showroom and consult with a master boot-maker who’ll cast a mold of your foot, take measurements and work with you to devise the perfect shoe in the on-premise workshop. It takes about 40 hours of work by the small staff to make a single pair. If only Cinderella had it this good.

Classic croquembouche made in France

The first time you see a “pièce montée” you might wonder, “How on earth do you serve it?” Then you wonder, “How do you eat it?” and eventually you wonder, “How do you make it?” and someone who has never seen a pièce montée before might say: “Who cooked that up?”
From the French words croque en bouche meaning ‘crunch in the mouth’. A croquembouche is a French cake, a kind of “pièce montée” often served at weddings, baptisms, and first communions. It is a high cone of profiteroles (choux filled with pastry cream) and traditionally dipped in chocolate bound with caramel, and usually decorated with threads of caramel, sugared almonds, chocolate, flowers, or ribbons. Very rich in the pallet, always a marvel to look at and somehow still a centerpiece at a French wedding. In 1760 a French pastry chef named Avice filled the buns with pastry cream and called them profiteroles … and that’s history!
