French Elegance at the Hotel Ritz Paris

When deciding on a wedding venue location, one of the most important elements is the romance factor.  For some couples, it has to be a grandiose fairy tale wedding with all of the bells and whistles.  Others wish for an intimate setting for only the two of them to revel in the magic of their day.

For both sides of the spectrum – and everything in between – the Hotel Ritz in Paris is the perfect setting for the most romantic day of your life.

Located near the Opéra Garnier, arguably one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, and in front of elegant column of Place Vendôme, the Hotel Ritz Paris is the perfect backdrop for your wedding and, of course, your wedding pictures.

    Closing and Renovation

However, for those wishing to indulge in this paradise, time is limited.  The Hotel Ritz in Paris will be closing for two years beginning in August 2012 for some much-needed renovations.  The last upgrades took place in 1979, and the owner, Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed, has planned to make many changes, while maintaining the integrity of the architecture and style of the Ritz.  Winner of the €140-million bid on the project, Bouygues Construction will be spearheading the remodeling, working with designer Thierry W. Despont.

According to Forbes.com, refurbishments include a full technological upgrade, an extension of the ballroom, additional suites, and a new summer restaurant with a retractable glass roof. During the restorations, the hotel’s restaurant and prestigious culinary school will also be closed. The new-and-improved Hotel Ritz Paris will reopen in 2014.

A few photos of a destination wedding table presentation, amazingly choreographed by the most talented Michele Rago .
Those decor photographs very nicely resume Michele’s wonderful sense of style. They are taken from Michele’ iphone actually  )- and posted on her facebook page. God, we LOVE facebook.

I have had the pleasure to work with a few very talented professionals in my little career and i keep coming back to michele’s work for inspiration and a pleasurable moment. I love her style and the way she uses elements from “mother nature” such as those sea shells that ornate the table.

Michele is in Paris for a destination wedding in March with her A Team. Looking forward to seeing her soon again.

Here is a Little interview of Michele at her studio in New York City.

  • Love Much, Laugh often from Paris

Thank god to the magic of the web, we do get inspired by a lot of different sources, one of our favorite being Style me Pretty where i found this photograph this morning. It was taken at a wedding on Lake Tahoe which bring back camping memories to my mind as well.
So Love Much, Laugh often and Live well one of our favorite motto at WeddingLight Paris.

  • Classic croquembouche made in France

The first time you see a “pièce montée” you might wonder, “How on earth do you serve it?” Then you wonder, “How do you eat it?” and eventually you wonder, “How do you make it?” and someone who has never seen a pièce montée before might say: “Who cooked that up?”
From the French words croque en bouche meaning ‘crunch in the mouth’. A croquembouche is a French cake, a kind of “pièce montée” often served at weddings, baptisms, and first communions. It is a high cone of profiteroles (choux filled with pastry cream) and traditionally dipped in chocolate bound with caramel, and usually decorated with threads of caramel, sugared almonds, chocolate, flowers, or ribbons. Very rich in the pallet, always a marvel to look at and somehow still a centerpiece at a French wedding. In 1760 a French pastry chef named Avice filled the buns with pastry cream and called them profiteroles … and that’s history!
