  • Paris Wedding: Cathy & Patrick’s Intimate December Wedding

Cathy and Patrick came to WeddingLight Events to help them plan a beautiful intimate ceremony in one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in the world.

The Brisbane based couple knew from the very beginning that they wanted to have their ceremony in Paris – The City of Lights. They privatised a gorgeous Parisian monument,  a stunning chapel, for their intimate ceremony with their two sons and closest friends and family by their side. Cathy spent the morning with her bridal party in her lovely apartment in the chic 7th arrondissement of Paris getting pampered by our favorite hair and makeup duo, Fred and Muriel. The bride wore an elegant long-sleeved dress in white crocheted lace with a french twist for the ceremony and held a bouquet of bright white roses with bold emerald green leaves.

The chapel ceremony was officiated by one of our friendly English-speaking officiants, Igor, who gave a touching speech and provided them with a beautiful certificate at the end. Following the ceremony, the guests along with the bride and groom went on a Paris photo tour with our talented Paris photographer, Olivier Lalin of WeddingLight Photography. Making their way around the city, they shot photos on the L’île Saint-Louis, Musée du Louvre, Tuileries Gardens, the Eiffel Tower and more stunning Paris photography locations! Afterwards, the group took a pause at one of Paris’ chic hotel bars before heading over to an infamous restaurant for dinner that holds one of the best views in Paris that includes, of course, the iconic Eiffel Tower.

Cathy and Patrick were such a wonderful couple to work with and we were more than happy to help them create such special memories here in Paris during this holiday season. The family spent their Christmas in their rue Saint Dominique apartment and then flew to Italy for the remainder of the honeymoon trip.

  • Paris Elopement: Tracy and Dan from Florida, USA

Yesterday, we had another small wedding with a wonderful couple from Florida, USA. Deciding to bring over a few close friends and some relatives, Dan and Tracy had their ceremony in the Chapelle Expiatoire on a gorgeous sunny day! We told them that they brought the sun! They might have left with it as well. The two had gotten engaged in Paris the year before after having been together for 7 years. After proposing, they marked their initials on a tree just near the Love Lock Bridge. We just can’t get enough of these romantic stories! Now Paris if forever theirs…

As always, many thanks to all our wonderful vendors who helped make Tracy and Dan’s special day possible! Fred and Murielle did a gorgeous job of both the bride and mother-in-law’s hair and makeup. Estelle, our fabulous florist, personally delivered their flower arrangements. Tracy thought they were stunning — (and so did we!) Philippe, our charming officiant gave a fantastic ceremony with some heart-felt words. Romain, the driver of that adorable Citroen 2CV, zoomed around town with our happy couple and Olivier, our photographer, for their photo tour after their ceremony. Olivier was so thrilled with Tracy and Dan’s photos that he was only too happy to share some with us (and all of you!) after giving the bride a sneak peek. To see more of their lovely photos, visit Olivier’s WeddingLight blog. After their city tour, Tracy and Dan joined the rest of their group for an exceptional meal at Lasserre just off the iconic Champs-Élysées.

Getting married in Paris, or any other destination location can be daunting for many couples. Sometime’s it can be the jet lag upon arrival and having to settle in for a few days to a new culture and environment or it can be the language barrier that can take a bit of adjusting. Whatever the reason,  we are here to make sure everything is smooth sailing – and that includes everything from help with the administrative aspects of marrying in France, to the hand-holding stage that might happen before you say the big “I Do” without your family and friends (if you’ve decided to elope).

  • Top 5 Places to Marry in Paris

There are many wedding ceremony locations in Paris to chose from to suite both your taste and budget. Whether you’re a DIY, Classic, Rock & Roll or Indie Bride we’ve found that many couples need help in finding a suitable wedding venue to marry.  And because all our clients are foreigners or visiting from abroad for a short period of time they need help in crossing the language and social (administrative) barriers. That’s where WLEvents comes in. We’re just happy to help however we can!

We’ve rounded up 5 of our favorite and possibly most popular places to have a truly Parisian wedding.

    1. Chapelle Expiatoire – This Paris monument was dedicated to King Louis XVI and his wife Queen Marie Antoinette and the construction took over 10 years to complete. Located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, the garden exteriors are as exquisite as the marble interiors that radiates with the beautiful natural lighting.
    2. Saint James Albany Hotel-Spa – Located in the very heart of Paris (across from the Tulleries Gardens), this hotel has reception rooms to host large wedding parties of around 150 guests. Say I do in a decadent decor of high ceilings and engraved walls, and have your guests parade out into the courtyard afterwards for a post ceremony “Apero” with champagne and hors-d’œuvre
    3. The American Church in Paris – This English speaking church and congregation attracts many visitors to Paris who don’t speak French and are in search of a religious ceremony. You will have to show proof that you’ve already legally married in your home country.
    4. Parc des Buttes Chaumont / Buttes Chaumont Park – Parisians flock to this oasis in Paris because of it’s vast landscape and its proximity to the Mairie of the 19th Arrondissement (where they’ve just married). You won’t find solitude here, but it makes for a beautiful backdrop for photos and as it’s a public park, it is free.
    5. A Jewish Synagogue – This discrete synagogue is centrally located in one of Paris’ most notable Jewish communities and is one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau designs.

In addition to the above list, bear in mind that there are many other options if you want to marry or elope in Paris such as Boats along the Seine River, Museums, Consulates etc. Anything is possible.
