    Who are you? What’s the story behind De Vinis Illustribus?

    De Vinis Illustribus is a specialty vintage wine store and cellar, specializing in the highest-quality French wines from the past century.  I, Lionel Michelin, the current owner and wine steward, bought the cellar fifteen years ago from the past owner who used to sell wine to Ernest Hemingway!

    It was the famous author’s favorite place to buy wine as it’s just down the street from his old apartment.

    I studied law but always had a love and curiosity for wine. I began to work in the wine industry many years ago and found my niche!  My family and I are passionate about wines and have dreamt of establishing a boutique that could provide the best wines to Parisians and visitors to the city.  Since its establishment, De Vinis Illustribus has gained worldwide recognition in the wine world and has been featured in many international magazines and Paris guidebooks.

    What are the services you offer?

    We sell wine, primarily vintage, as well as champagne.  We also offer a variety of tasting experiences.

    Many couples and families from around the world come to celebrate milestones: marriages, vow renewals, birthdays, you name it.

  • Alain Bernard coiffeur extraordinaire

    Alain Bernard is probably one of the best hairdresser in Paris. His salon is located in the rue St Honoré neighborhood of Paris. He has a passion for Opera and takes classes with Suren Shahidjanyan in Paris once a week. Olivier followed Alain in between the hairdressing salon and his opera class on a beautiful afternoon.

  • Varda Flower designer of the Ritz Paris


    We spent a wonderful night at the Ritz, Paris with our friend Djordje Varda from “Varda decor floral” in Paris. Varda is the flower designer of this well known Parisian landmark. Once a week, while Paris is asleep, Varda takes on to embellish the Ritz with a new flower decor. For anyone interested, Varda gives classes at the Ritz once every two weeks.

  • Interview with Suzanne Ermann, Wedding Gown Designer in Paris

    We met up with Suzanne Ermann a few days back in Paris. It was great meeting her and discussing on the art of the cutting, the love of work well done, the sense of perfection. All were part of Suzanne Ermann’s early days at the school of the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture in Paris. After training at Chantal Thomas, Chanel and Thierry Mugler, she decides to launch “Suzanne Ermann” in Paris. She first opened a modest workshop rue de Seine. Her evening gown & cocktail dresses quickly drew attention from a large Parisian audience. Next, Suzanne Ermann wedding dresses emerged and have taken off ever since.
